On 23 September 2026, Warsaw became the center of strategic financial dialogue as it hosted the ‘International Conference on Finance – Navigating through Uncertainty’. The event was a cornerstone of the celebrations marking the landmark 20th anniversary of the KNF. 

In his opening remarks Jacek Jastrzębski – Chair of the KNF Board said, that it was UKNF’s ambition – which was reflected both in the line-up and in the topics of the conference – to deliver a clear message. “We strongly believe that European integration and regional cooperation should work hand in hand and constitute two fundamental pillars of how we approach the challenges of today and tomorrow. There is no conflict nor contradiction between these two. All of us can benefit from a combination of pan-European integration and enhanced cooperation within the region of Central, Northern and Eastern Europe”.

He also welcomed the participation of Ukrainian friends, whose ability to maintain the continuous operationality of their financial sector under prolonged wartime conditions merits the highest respect.

The discussions focused sharply on the upcoming challenges that both financial market participants and supervisory authorities will face in the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. This year’s event built upon the success of the inaugural edition launched last year by the Finantsinspektsioon Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority in Tallinn. 

The format - specifically tailored to address critical issues relevant to the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region - has proven to be exceptionally valuable. Seeking to expand this vital platform for international discussion, the UKNF proudly undertook the organization of the 2026 edition.

The conference brought together a remarkable community of experts, drawing over 280 in-person attendees. We were deeply honored to welcome many distinguished guests and global financial leaders, including: François-Louis Michaud (Chair, European Banking Authority - EBA) and Verena Ross (Chair, European Securities and Markets Authority - ESMA).

The agenda was structured around three high-impact thematic panels addressing the paramount challenges currently facing European financial markets:

• Managing Non-Financial Risks: The critical importance of properly identifying and accounting for operational, cyber, and climate risks impacting financial entities.
• Growth vs. Stability: The complex challenge of sustaining robust economic growth while maintaining rock-solid financial stability.
• Cross-Border Synergy: The urgent need to deepen supervisory cooperation and remove regulatory barriers to unlock the full potential of regional and European financial markets.
